Mason Machinery has been serving Utah’s agricultural community since 1948, when Hilmar and Reba Mason founded the business out of their home garage with the Allis Chalmers tractor line. Now in its third generation of family ownership, the dealership has grown to two locations, offering top brands like New Holland, Massey Ferguson, and more.
In 2013, Mason Machinery chose DIS as its dealership management system (DMS) to support its expanding operations. Since then, DIS has helped streamline service, parts, and logistics, allowing the business to grow while staying true to its roots of reliable, family-driven service.
We chatted with Rachel Mason, Administration at Mason Machinery, to find out how her team utilizes DIS Quantum to deliver efficient, top-quality service to customers.
How long has your dealership been using DIS?
Rachel Mason: “When we first decided to get a business platform or a software platform, we were with a system that I don’t think is in business anymore, and all they did was parts. So, when we made the leap to DIS, we had all the platforms that we needed, and we have never looked back.”
Which Quantum features do you use most in your daily operations?
Rachel Mason: “I feel like they’re all vitally important, but the service part and the parts are huge for us, so we can keep everything organized. The Service Logistics software has helped my technicians, especially my road technicians, be more efficient. Before, we had to have them write it down on paper, and when they’d come back in the shop, then I’d have to input all their time. The Service Logistics metrics that we have are a huge instrument in helping us be more efficient.”
Designed in partnership with dealers in your industry, to help you thrive in today’s market—and beyond.
What would you say to someone who is considering switching to DIS?
Rachel Mason: “I truly believe that DIS is a partner that doesn’t sugarcoat anything. If they can’t help you, they’ll tell you. And if they can help you, they’ll tell you. And if you decide not to go with them, they always wish you luck. I’ve never heard anybody in the DIS staff say anything negative about another manufacturer, which is huge for us.
I feel like they listen to us. They want to know what we want, and they’re listening with a keen ear to find ways to help us.”
